Distributor options 140-160

The distributor in my '71 B20B is getting old. Noticed the other day there is no centrifugal advance, and timing at idle jumps a bit. Now I can't take it apart over a weekend in case I don't get it back together for work Monday (also a lot of other things going on), and I also wanted to go electronic for a long time. So I'm wondering what options I have for a later model distributor which I can convert and just swap out. Even a 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder distributor will be fine for me, as I'll fabricate a photo interruptor kind of shaft encoder and do all the curves with a microprocessor similar to a 32-1 crank shaft system. All I need is a distributor that will fit mechanically. Any suggestions appreciated, keeping in mind finding anything in New Zealand older than 20 years is getting really hard due to cheap Jap imports.

Also, roughly how much space is there in front of the fiber timing gear to add a thin metal plate to act as a 32-1 tooth gear? That might actually be the best option.

Thanks.
