Thanks everyone!

Car has red cap distributor (Bosch) I've got known-good distributor out of an '83 LHjet. I assume the distributor doesn't care how the fuel is injected and '83 and '81 will interchange for testing purposes. The distributor in the car has a new cap and rotor and doesn't feel sloppy.

My intuition says that Alex is on the right track. I talked the lady into paying for me to remove the intake, clean CPR & TB replace injector seals and inspect the mess of vacuum hoses under there.

It'll probably be a few weeks before parts come in and I get to it but I'll be sure to post back with my findings. Thanks a million for all the suggestions!
