R12 - R134a Compatible 200

The air conditioner canister dohickey (dryer?) in the engine compartment has a blue sticker that states something like "Dessicant compatible with r12 and r134a". Does this mean my A/C has been converted to r134a? How can I tell if if r12 or r134a is in the system? The canister has 1 port on it. I guess that's the fill valve? I'm pretty handy, but the a/c system mystifies me.
