1990 745gl transmission or axle problem ??? 700

any help out there ? when cold & in low speed right or left turns i'm feeling a momentary loss of power
until the car straightens out...or just after coming to a complete stop i feel a 'bump' seems in the back-can't tell for sure...after the car has been run up to warm (this) feeling seems to go away......the very 1st time i felt it was right after i crossed a huge man-made speed bump in a parking lot...the rear of the car bounced up & when right after (it) came down there was a momentary lag of powe...i thought at 1st i had a transmission problem but now i'm not so sure...i'm not use to driving a rear wheel drive car so i don't have a feel for what types of problems can crop up...help anyone ??? 745gl with 170,000+ mi.

any needs for info on bmw/m-b/saab/porsche-audi/toyota/hyundai ? let me know...i am sometimes fondly known as 'the service manager'.
