leaky speedo drive 200 1982

I've got an M46 that has started to leak from the male part that the speedo cable screws onto. I think the fitting is brass?? Anyway, it is a bit loose and is no longer tight with the OD case. Never seen this before!
Does this fitting come out? I gather I need 4.5mm allen wrench to get the tamper seal off to get a better look. I imagine it might be a bit hard to put it back in and still have everything work. I'm trying to see what is the best way to stop the leak without pulling the OD!

anyone have experience with this?

thanks
