Rear wiper.. is the black lead positive or ground? 200 1991

I can't get my rear wiper to work.. I repaired the harness and checked the fix with a continuity tester. Definitely ok. Problem is that I purchased the car with a really crappy rear deck. I replaced the deck. All other electrics in the deck work. The wiper motor works. The hot lead to the wiper park works fine.

A friend says that it could be a ground problem. I don't think so because when I switch the "park" wire with the other wire to the wiper (there are only the two wires, right?) the motor works as it should.

I'm guessing that it is most likely the rear wiper relay, but I was hoping I could get some more educated guesses before going in blind.

Thanks in advance for the terrific help I've been getting..
Larry
