Jumping Ship (sort of) 900

Well, I've decided it's time. After having driven only Volvos since I got my driver's license (and several hundred thousand miles later) I'm jumping ship and going to buy a last-gen. BMW 540i 6-speed. My current brick ('92 965) is going to get some much-needed rest and be relegated to third car status.

So, my question is, having gleaned so much info. from you guys over the past several years, is there an equally good source of info. for E39 (I'm pretty sure) 5-series? I basically want to ask those annoying questions regarding what to look for on this particular model when I check them out. I've got my eye on an '03 with 9K miles on it right now for $47K still under factory warranty through 2007.
