auto trans and speedometer ,odometer problems 900 1994

The transmission ecu (tcm) among other things depends on a speed signal provided by the speedo. If the speedo is dead, your trans will go to limp home mode and flash lights as you've described.

Check fault codes as per the 700/900 FAQ and you'll almost certainly get a missing speed signal code from the tcm.

The fault could be in the speedo itself or, more likely if the car is a wagon, in the wire from vss to body. Check wiring for continuity and replace if broken.
