One known place where the 960 engine can leak oil is at the top of the valve cover through the screw holes holding down the plastic cover over the ignition coils. I've seen it happen on 4 different 960 here. It is usually the rear most screw on the passenger side. Some of the oil drips down the back of the engine. The solution is to wrap the threads with teflot thread sealing tape. This is how the oil leak looked on my engine. All the black stuff is oil trapped on top of the head.

Another place to check is the oil cooler near the oil filter.
