flywheel position sensor life expectancy 900 1995

1995 965 with 136,000 miles has stumbled / stalled several times & now will not start. The behavior was a lot like on another car I had whose problems were traced to a failed flywheel position sensor. crank -crank - catch- stall.

This car is running Motronic 4.4. I'll have the car taken to a dealer tomorrow. but I'm curious about the expected lifespan of the sensor on the 960. Volvos are new to me, & on other cars I've dealt with, the flywheel sensor is really easy to access & replace, for obvious reasons.
