Intermittent start problems with my wifes 740 wagon driving me nuts! 700 1991

I hope someone can help me with some ideas. Here's the run down:
- the other day and said the check engine light came on a couple of times
- Next day car wouldn’t start so I check the fuel, rotor, spark plugs, all good - next I hooked up a timing light to check for spark, that was good too. I then tried to start the car with the plug wire off (don’t ask me why) it started but ran rough, of course - I then removed the negative battery cable to reset the computer. It ran perfect. Wife drove it all day here and there - Next morning no start again.
- Code 311 (speedometer) and code 2-1-4 (sensor signal absent intermittently) reset computer and it started - Next morning drove down the street stalled and wouldn’t start no codes 1-1-1. of course resetting computer it ran again. Please Help me stop the insanity!!

P.S. speedometer has not been working off and on (trip meter and speedometer) I doubt this is related ?
