1986 740 - ALMOST Pass Smog - NOx still to high (by new standards) 700 1986

Hi All,

Almost got a pass with a timing adjustment (was way advanced, now at 12/13 degress BTDC). However, now that the limits were tightened here in Ontario my NOx reading of 1377 is above the new limit of 1088. The other readings at 1691 RPM (Load Test) are;

HC 46 (limit 98)
CO .05 (limit .05)

The Idle Test (751 RPM);

HC 70 (limit 300)
CO .34 (limit 1.5)
NO N/A N/A

Anything I should conclude? I'm not familiar enough with the relationships between the #'s to know if this suggests a new CAT, a new O/2 sensor, injectors, a leak?

I believe there IS a small leak before the CAT if this affects things any.

2 Days 'till wife's B-Day to get this cleared up ;>(
