Dave is right.....those 2 non-firing slugs will seriously hurt you...it really wouldn't supprise me if you got worse economy....As you will recall the caddy 8-6-4 model was larely made into an 8 only by those who insisted on keeping them. Don't forget the fact that without firing on all cyls there will be different harmonics and loading of the crankshaft....not good...the main jurnals and connecting rod jurnals will probably wear quicker onm on the working cyls then on the non-running one....In other words this is a horrible idea...(i am currious to hear exactly what goes to hell if you try it though). The new car engines are in no way aimed at people who want there engines to last like your old brick's mill. Today a 5 year old 100,000 car is high milage, old, riden hard and put away wet....etc...people keep them for a short time and dump them. This is not to say that engines have not come lightyears in durability from the days of my 1968 firebird with it's 400 cube poncho mill....anyone remember when plugs needed to be changed or gapped every 10,000 miles? If you want great milage....one term springs to mind "common rail direct injected turbo diesel"....it's the waive of the future in my humble opinion...anyone see that new E-class Benz diesel? 40mpg in a fullsized car....not bad even for a krautmobile.....keep us posted on the injection shut-down idea....good luck
