Window switches for '93 245 200

The 2 switches on the driver's door that operate the back windows only work downward. To make the windows go up I need to reach back and use the switches on the rear doors. After reading on the 'Board that a simple cleaning might do the trick I went out to try and remove them. Well, how in the world is one supposed to remove the little switch pod from the black trim piece? I got the whole assembly out of the arm rest but after lots of prying and pushing I still hadn't gotten the switch out. And, for once, I stopped before breaking something. Any tricks out there?
Also, I was looking at IPD for new switches and they only sell for pre-'93 models. They say the '93s are different and only available from the dealer. Can anyone confirm this, because if the cleaning didn't work I was going to try some used switches from any old year-model I could find. Thanks.
