crank position flywheel 700

i'm rebuilding a B230FT from a '91 740 and i forgot to mark the position of the flywheel when i removed it from the crank. by matching some discolorations on the crank and flywheel mating surfaces, i think i have it reassembled correctly. but, i would have assumed that the blank spot (in the series of divots around the parimeter of the flywheel) would be lined up with the crank postion sensor when 1 and 4 are at TDC; it is not. the blank spot roughly corresponds to about 90* ATDC (near the starter)--another way of saying it: the blank spot would hit the crank postion sensor around 90* BTDC for 1 and 4. am i off? how can i tell that i have the flywheel on correctly? the haynes manuals were of no help.

thanks in advance,

ryan
