Speedometer not working, Help! 200 1978

Disconnect the cable from the back of the speedo. While driving, carefully, reach under and feel the tip of the cable to see if it is turning.

If not, then it could be a broken cable. Pull out the cable by its tip. If it comes out broken, then you've found your problem. Else, it is the drive gear in the tranny.
