I suspect you have a shorted Main Headlight Relay. On the '86 (first year for it) it lives in what can be a damp, dark hole.

On 2nd thought, it would make more sense to check the switch wiring, since that was when this all began:

30 - Green/Red (hot, unfused +12V input)
X - Yel/Blk (Key On +12V input)
58 - White (output to Fuses 15 and 16 for Parking Lights in PL position)
56 - Yellow (output to pick HL relay in HL position)

A reversal of the output wires (White and Yellow) might be the problem, assuming the relay is OK.
