fuel gauge and changing brake fluid 700 1990

ive finally had enough of my 760 gle fuel gauge stranding me in the middle of no where.
Im pretty sure the fault lies in the instrument cluster,since I went in and resoldered all the circuit board connections partially curing it.
previously the low fuel led would not light at all,since resoldering it now illuminates continuously with occasional needle indications.
Any ideas.
