Hi the "play " in steering can be adjusted by the lock nut on top of the box. Loosen the nut then tighten the center with a screw driver then tighten the lock nut. Do it a little at a time untill it feels right. I expect if you looked a a good manuel they would tell how much drag you should get with a weigh scale and some twine.
