740t transfer pump in a 240t? 200

So my 82 242 GLT needed a new transer (in-tank) fuel pump and my neighbor had one that he bought for his 740 Turbo. I installed the pump and now my car runs WAY rich. Thick black smoke out the pipe. I set my base mixture with a dwell meter and it's fine till I plug in my Oxygen sensor. I have to richen the mixture to keep the car running (stalls like it's too lean with the sensor pugged in.) Question is, could the transfer pump be pumping too much fuel? Or does my sensor need replaced?

Thanks!
