B230K Remove flametrap at 130K miles? 200

Whilst getting parts to replace the cambelt on my B230K (carb) engine, discussing various maintenance issues with the spares guy who also had a B230 engine, he said Volvo now recommend removing the flame trap altogether after 130,000 miles.

Apparently if left it can block fairly quickly, pressurising the crankcase and leading to seals failing elsewhere.

Anyone else heard of this?

NOTE this was in the UK.
