i changed from the york to the rotary compressor about a month ago on my 240 turbo. i pulled the parts from the boneyard. this is the only way to go if you need a new compressor im my opinion.
you need all the brackets from the later model, i pulled most of the parts from a 88 240, the compressor was like new from a 92 940. the compressor had no fill ports so i had a new low side hose made up with a r-134 port up high and easy to reach. others here have made the high side hose work, i hear.
the whole job cost about 130.00$ the installer works for free :^(
the high side hose was bent to make work.
the power steering pump was from a 93 240.
my car has the upgraded evaporator coil made of aluminum?
the r-134 is cold = 38 degrees at vent. (south florida)
the car has more power and less vibration.
the power steering hose was difficult to hook up as i didnt pull the hose from the 93 240. it is different from the 88 240. the turbo dont have much room for the 88 style power steering pump with remote resivoir.
i also installed all new bushings in the a.c. and p.s. brackets.
next i will swap to rotary on my 1970 ford f-100 302 v-8, c-4, shortbed. the york even drags down the old v-8 motor. its not all that bad of a swap. took me all day. thats all i can think of right now. as robert haire says throw the york as far as you can. for shipping price you can have my old york with no guarentee. good luck
