B23F versus B230F 200

Same iron in the block. The B23 has more robust crank, bearings and rods. From '85 to very early '88 the bearings/rods were much lighter/smaller starting with the K (motor not cam) in '88 they were enlarged but not to the specs of the B23.

A lot of things can affect drivability, age, condition, exhaust if it's been replaced, engine timing (adjustable through '88). Cams were the same for US spec cars from '83-93. My old '84 wagon had great low end with it's stock cam. Plus the "butt-o-meter" is notoriously inaccurate, heavily influenced by noise and other factors.
