92 240 Transmission Skipping 200 1992

I have a 240 sedan 1992 with 133,000 miles. Recently, and only once in a while, when I come to a stop, the transmission feels like you put it in neutral, then back in drive. Also, once in a while, when shifting from reverse to drive, it takes a couple of seconds before lurching in.

The transmission fluid is at proper level, but the color is a bit off, not brown like it has been cooked, but a bit darker then usual and has a off smell.

I am going to try changing the transmission oil filter, flush the trans and install new fluid.

Any suggestions and/or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.
