1966 122s manual 4-speed transmission oil recommendations 120-130

I'm getting around to basic maintenance on a 1966 122s I've inherited. I want to change out the oils. I'm curious about the manual 4-speed transmission oil recommendations in the old manual I have. I would have assummed that a hypoid 80-90 weight would be the way to go (as it seems to be for the rear end and steering box), but the Clymer manual I have says at one point that a engine lubricant is to be used (SAE 30 or SAE 20 W-40) in the transmission. Is this a misprint? Are there now standard recommendations for all (non-engine) lubrications, esp. for a manual 4-speed transmission (no overdrive)? Sorry if I an starting a dreaded "oil-thread".
