Custom center console in a PV? 444-544

Sorry for the late reply, but Ive been on holiday for the last 2 weeks. The picture you provided shows a console that I have in my Duett. I bought mine from IPD in Portland OR, quite a number of years ago. The circular recesses between the firewall and the shifter are essentially useless. I believe the console was made out of ABS plastic.

A solution I have thought about for the hood opening lever would be to weld in a piece of similar flat stock to bring the handle portion of the closer to the drive side of the car...maybe a piece of metal 3-5 inches in length. should retain the same pivotiing action. But I havent looked to see if there would be clearance problems under the dashboard.
