did I fry something? 86' 240 GL wagon

The 240 would not start on saturday. It cranks and turns over like normal, but just doesn't catch. I checked panel fuses, opened the hood and looked for any loose connections etc. Then I rememebered that I have a spare fuel system relay. When I swapped the relay out I did it w/ the key in the on (#2) position. Later I read in Bently's that car should be off. Could I have I broken something by doing this?


What should I start with to troubleshoot?
