Its electronic and if both died at the same time look to see if the instrument cluster fuse blew, you didnt specify if the other gauges also dropped such as Tach, Fuel and Temp. If they are working look for the interface connection down at the axle and follow it up through the trunk. Ive had many times where something on the drivers side of my trunk has pulled the connection loose and dropped the speedo/odometer.
