Hello there. I'm looking for the collective wisdom of this board. This is an 81 with a stick. The car has been sitting idle for the past two years. I just purchased the car without the benefit of knowing the history at all. The vehicle appears to be completely unmolested - 99% there, unrestored, original. I attempted to drain the fuel from the tank which showed some amber color, but no sludge at all, no varnish or lacquer smell. Next, I cleaned all major electrical connections and installed a newer battery. With a click of the key, the starter engaged but would not turn the motor. I put the car in gear and rocked it with my body weight. It would not budge the motor while in gear and rocking. I'm left with the thought that the rings are seized in the cylinders from sitting idle for so long. Now, how to safely break the ring bind. Would I spray PB Blaster in the spark plug hole for a few days and rock the vehicle to try to break the bond, or, is marvel mystery oil the thing to inject into the cylinder wells or both?. I suspect that I'll also drain the oil and refill, hoping that some of the oil will gravity feed down and on some parts prior to the first restart. While I'm waiting for the bond to break, I'll rebuild the fuel system (filter etc.). Any help regarding how to bring back a motor to life that's been sitting for a while is DEEPLY apprecitated. Thanks to all in advance for the advice!!
