I'm preparing my 940 for an 800+ mile road trip to pick up an Amazon in Texas. In the weeks leading up to the trip, I've been attenpting to take care of any and all issues that this car has. This has included new water pump, new timing belt, new front seals, new accessory belts, new oil pan gasket, new thermostat, and a new skid plate. The oil was changed when the pan gasket was down, I've flushed the PS and tranny, and added magnafine filters to each system. I also have a new radiator and new expansion tank. Radiator hoses look and feel newer. I added a loss of coolant sensor, euro sidemarker lights, and a class 2 resse hitch with lighting harness - if towing ability be needed. I also had new inner and outer tie rods installed last week.
Here's where I get to the point.
I installed new NGK BPR6ES plugs today. While I had them out, I noticed that the interior of the OEM bougicord plugs was grimey and had left filth all over the top of the old plugs. I didn't plan to do the wires, cap, plug, and rotor quite yet, so I hadn't ordered those parts. I did not want to put those nasty plug wires on my nice new NGKs. So I went to the local Carquest (eqivalent to napa) and picked up some "oem quality" plug wires. They fit fine and have the same sort of rubber plug-end as the OEM, but they are a bit longer and they lack the ceramic connections that the true OEM wires have.
I know bougicords are prefered, but I didn't have access to them. Are any other plug wires of acceptable quality? Will these new wires cause me trouble in a few weeks? I also have some almost new Bosch plug wires from Autozone, but I hear that many bosch parts are not of good quality since Autozone started carrying the brand.
Any Thoughts?
