check fuses? 700 1991

Have you checked the fuses, the ones behind the radio face?
I had this same EXACT proublem before. It turned out to be that one of the wires burned out, and he offered to "hack" shall we say. The fuse board, and install something with a fuse in it so he wouldnt have to pull apart the dash board to get to that one wire. Check the radio relay, and any other burned out fuses first.
If something keeps going wrong with you volvo, stop taking it to that place.
They are proubly trying to shist you for all you have.
