SRS light says on 89 760

I just did an engine swap on a 1989 760T and there seems to be an electrical problem that has me baffled. When you turn the key to KPII the oil, seatbelt warning and SRS lights come on but no battery light nor the rest of the “Christmas tree” of lights that usually come on. After the car starts the SRS light stays lit.
I have checked the charging system, the fuses and everything seems fine. (I have seen this before on a Volvo when the accessory circuit on the ignition switch was not making contact, or the Alternator was not grounded, but all the equipment works on this one.)
The owner says that it was not a problem before the motor swap, so something must be disconnected or???
Has anyone seen this problem before?
I want to get this car out of my garage!
Jon
