This is still an on going problem, nothing appears to be wrong,no vac leaks, good MAF sensor ect, ect, ect.I thought that I would check the in tank fuel pump being that the main fuel pump is putting out good pressure, perhaps a volume problem at idle,I took an amp meter to check the amp draw on both pumps, the intank pump uses around 3 amps and the main fuel pump/fuel system draws around 9 amps, when I disconnect the intank pump fuse the main pump starts to become gritty sounding. These both sound acceptable to me,the other suspect is ignition coil,it seems that 10 years ago the car had around 29k volts going thru the spark plug wires and now with newer cap, rotor, wires replaced 2 years ago the kv voltage is around 10k or so on all wires,if I remove the coil wire slightly the current will increase on my hand-held tester, has anyone had a weak coil that would throw such a code?Is the fuel mixture too rich demanding less current to fire a rich mixture? The car does hesitate if pushed hard when cold, even an occasional spit back thru the intake like the engine is running lean, everthing seems lean.About ten years ago the alternator died on a trip and the car was struggling to make it home and I wonder if this caused a voltage spike in the fuel system ECU and the ECU can no longer mix the fuel properly at idle.
Thanks for any input.
