could this have really happen? 700 1987

I'm not a pro, but i do know the 700 series, i'm sure i have the same system as he has, but dowt the wheel would break. mabe it was a lot of pressure, but i can't see how something like that can be done, even thou the rear calaper has two bolts that hold it together. what's everybody else think of this??
