non-working air conditioning. beginning the project. 700

so i have been putting this off for a while, but as the southern california summer is about to start, i thought it would be a good time to attempt to fix the ac.

ok, here goes...

before i got the car, the ac compressor was replaced and the system was recharged, according to the repair history. i turn on the ac in the car and i get nothing. fan works but it just blows regular air out. i can't detect any action by the ac unit. i have a guess that the ac controls in the car are not turning on the ac, but that is just an educated guess from reading the FAQs.

i read through the FAQs but really don't know where to start with this one. i read that the soldering on the control board dies, so i thought that i would start there, but wanted some input before i rip out the dash.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!
