Why were the older 240 more fancy?

That's a great looking 244T in your profile. I like the newer style windshield on that.

I have a preference for the styling of the 83 to 85's myself. There's a bit more chrome trim (though I've blacked some of it out on my wagon) which sets them apart a bit.

I think the previous posts are right about the economics, but I think the 86's on definitely look "more modern" (within reason - obviously).
