1990 245 A/C fuse blows

I hope someone can help me with this puzzler: The fuse to the a/c has been blowing, but only at higher speeds/rpm's. (i.e.: highway speeds). The system is fully charged and blows nice cold air. When the car is sitting at idle, or when driving around town, it cycles on and off just fine. However on the highway at speed (+- 45mph and up) the fuse blows when the compressor cycles back on. I have a feeling it would also do this around town if the rpm's were high enough when the compressor kicks in. I drove around for an hour today with it cycling fine and as soon as I got on the highway and it cycled off and back on again, the fuse blew.

Any ideas? It has to be something simple. All the wires look fine and it's still an R12 system.

Thanks!
