heater valve replacement 900 1995

The car is a '95 945T. I'm just about to start on coolant system replacement due to a leaking radiator; have all the parts and ready to go. I just read in BB archives today about superiority of the all plastic Volvo heater valve versus the original or replacement metal-plastic version. The price difference is substantial about $90 for upgraded Volvo versus $14 for old style from reputable supplier. I have a new old-style one ready to install. Volvo dealer is just up the road, and I get a slight (=10%) discount. Is it worth the price difference to get the new Volvo version? This is strictly a cost-benefit question and long-term reliability. Any advice appreciated.
