One more question...alternator...ground wire (blue) and large red wire from the harness...do they go on the same bolt?

The large red wire from the harness carries the charging currente (a lot) to the battery +side via the starter.

The blue wire is the ground wire. It must connect from the frame of the alternator to the engine block. It is necessary because the alternator is electically isolated from the block by the rubber accessory bushings inside the mounting and adjusting brackets.

Sometimes there is a spade lug for the blue wire. If not, find a way to attach it under one of the rear side nuts on a frame bolt.

The large red wire, when properly connected, is hot all the time, direct to the battery. So if you connect it to the blue ground wire, you are creating a direct connection across the battery - and maybe a jolly good fire.
