Valve Tap S90-V90

Hi ipsage,

Well, if you haven't switched the V90 to synthetic, I suggest you do so. It's an excellent time as your engine is relatively young and therefore should be free of oil leaks. I would certainly try synthetic as it is a superior oil in pretty much every way and you can extend the drain interval (I use the 5K mi service light in my 745T > Amsoil 10W40) to help make up for the extra cost. What oil weight are you using? It sounds as if the oil you are using is too thin especially when hot. Trying the 0W40 may work, but I'd suggest something heavier like 10W40. Anyway, see if that fixes your problem, if not I'd have the oil pressure checked (when cold and hot) and if that checks out fine then I'd just ignore the tick unless it became worse. Heck, if that tick drives ya nuts you should have a listen to some B230s and their piston slap! Ha! You're lucky with your '94 940 as it has an "L" block with the piston oil squirters and shouldn't ever develop the slap :) Good luck with the V90, I hope the synthetic solves the problem!
