More engine problems 700 1989

My 1989 740 with 180k+ miles is beginning to break down a bit. I was accelerating the other day, and all of a sudden my car lurched and the tachometer wobbled up and down for about 3 seconds before it steadied and my engine reengaged. About 100 feet further down the road, it did the same thing and then died and wouldn't restart for about 10 minutes. I had my clutch replaced 6 months ago, and I was wondering if that might have anything to do with it. Anyone have any ideas?
