Hood Release Lever Replacement 700

On my 89 740gl, the other night I went to go pop the hood and to say the least I popped the hood release lever. So I did say a couple of not so nice things and went on the phone with my local dealer. I ordered the part and now I picked it up today. I was wondering if anyone has any insight in putting one of these back in. Also I heard that my cable may need to be tightened so can you please help me with that. Thanks.
