An oddity?? 140-160

OK, trivia kids out there!!!

Found an M41 in a 74 K-Jet equipped 145 recently. It has the 3 3/8" flange and small (2") driveshaft. Everything looked factory installed, even looks like it had Uncle Olofs fingerprints on it.

The mystery is that its a "D" type instead of a "J" type. The solenoid is definitely on the right side. The yellow tag at the bottom rear of the tranny says...M40!!! It's a rear shift with the momentary button on the top.

I'm not a hi-po nut, so a D is as good as any for me, but I found it a bit unusual that it was a D instead of a J at that late date. The flange matches my 66 driveshaft so "alles gute" for me! The price was most good so I'm a happy guy!

Is this weird or just par for the course.

Mike
