Oil teperature gauge... 200 1987

I recently aquired a few gauges for my '87 240 DL Wagon, i replaced the big clock in the main dash with a tach and that was easy to install. However i'm looking for some advice on exactly what i need to connect the oil temperature gauge, i've seen a few pages but wasn't quite sure what i needed and what might already be in the car (like the signal wire for the tach).

the oil temp. gauge is one of the small electric gauges that fits beside the radio, and has 3 prongs to connect up.

any thoughts?
