140 Fuel Pump Question 140-160

My fuel pump started leaking the other day, from the inside of the electric plug. So I ordered a remanufactured pump and got it today- it's a different one. My 71 140e has a pump with three ports and a plug for power wires, the one I got has only two ports and a plug. I'm pretty sure the extra port on the bad one is the return line, but are these two pumps interchangeable if I plug the fuel return line?
