I have a 1965 122S and have the two barrell Weber kit. When I installed it, I decided not to attach the heater hose to the manifold as I was supposed to do. I live in Southern California, where cold days are rare, so I decided that I didn't need to heat the intake manifold in this manner, and I didn't want a mess of hoses cluttering my neat engine compartment.
It has worked fine without the hoses, but I have always thought that I should, do it right, and finish the job.
I thought of a way to connect the hot water wihout having a clutter of hoses, but I thought I should ask here before I do it.
So here is my idea: I cut the middle section out of the pipe that goes from the water pump to the rear of the engine where it connects to the heater. With the middle section gone, I attach a heater hose that goes from the front section of the pipe, and connect it to the manifold. Then I attach a second heater hose that goes from the manifold to the rear section of the pipe. Thus hot water would go from the water pump to the manifold and then continue on its normal path to the rear of the engine. Does any one see anything wrong with this? I have to ask, because sometimes I come up with some really dumb ideas.
