1986 Volvo240DL Clutch Cable 'Rattle' 200

Hello All. Last week clutch cable on my '86 Volvo 240DL broke . I replaced it with off brand italian cable. Works fine. Only thing is I have this slight rattling noise. Pedal feels like its vibrating slightly. '86 year(and i think only this year)used a weight on tranny end of cable. Cable goes thru this weight and weight hangs over tranny lever. Could I be missing a part here ? Or maybe i should make and put in a piece of rubber where weight which is metal and lever which is metal meet/touch each other so as I don't have metal to metal ? Or maybe cable needs to be tighter(it is already tight - maybe 1/8" of play) ? Any advice, ideas, feedback greatly appreciated.
