1987 244DL oil plug size and tire question 200

Yes the rims can rust, it happened to me. The only way I found it was to pump the tire up to 50psi and spray it with soapy water.

The inner lip of the rim had a raised lumpy ridge of rust, I replaced it with one from the junk yard.

When the guy pulled the tire, the bead of the tire looked pretty awful, from being pressed up against the lumpy rim.

I asked the guy if he thought it was going to seal on the new rim. He said he thought it would, and it did. Still good today.
