So, I'm in damage control mode. 140-160

I once opened up an engine which had been running fine. I think found about ALL of the teeth of a previous timing gear in the oil pan...
I think if you pull the pan and (obviously) the aluminium cover and clean out all the bits you should be fine. They are relatively soft and too big to get sucked into the oli pump.
Alos, is this is B18 or 20? If its a B18, the 'bits' you're talking about could also be the (hardened) rubber valve umbrella thinghys.
