hi, a while back i posted about my '92 960 wagon that was hit in the front right quad. recently, i've replaced the radiator and have a passenger side light set up to put on it. Basically, all I'm focusing on now is just getting it road ready. I'm not concerned with how it looks, although, i will do the body work later. Anyway, this car hasn't been driven in over 1.5 years so I was wanting some guidance as to what I need to do to get it road ready to the point where it will be in good enough shape to last another 260k miles!
What i'm planning on doing now is:
oil change w/ filter
transmission fluid flush with new filter
p.s. fluid flush
brake fluid flush
fill with coolant
tires inflate and checked by professional
possibly new fuel filter with water remover
possibly new spark plugs, wires, distrib cap, rotor button, pcv, etc.
what else can anyone add to this list? are there some things that are not recommended? what's the proper way to go about flushing the power steering and brake fluids (i've already seen the post about flushing the trans. fluid)? do i need to flush the cooling system? also, in regards to the cooling system-- the radiator-looking contraption in front of the radiator--is that the a/c compressor? or is it a part of the radiator? is it necessary or can i do without it at the cost of not having a/c?
concerning oil: on this site it is highly recommended to use synthetic oil but all i had been using before was regular oil. what do you recommend??? I got 10w-40 high mileage to put in it. is this ok?
also, the fluids i've gotten are all solvent/cleaning free as far as i know b/c that is frowned upon here...anyone concur?
alright, i think that's about it--the pnp switch seems to be ok, might need some new wiring...anyone recommend what the best way to put new wiring in behind the dash and if it's necessary? i had this done shortly before it was wrecked but the mechanic said it would need it again in the future.
ok sorry about all this but i was just trying to be complete. i really appreciate any and all comments...i'm a novice as far as fixing cars goes but have access to other's mechanical knowledge. however, this 960 is in a league of its own as far as i'm concerned. please help!!!
